Blessed with an exceptional mammalian dive reflex, Cmdr. Fernandez can slow her heart rate to undetectable levels and navigate darkness, ice, and advanced deep-sea defense systems. She stands out for her aquatic abilities as well as her marksmanship and prowess as an elite soldier. ‘Goggles’ earned her nickname when a bullet struck her left eye—or would have, if not for ‘Wet Sox’ reminding her to grab her full kit ‘for the last time!’ Though sometimes forgetful, Cmdr. Fernandez is one of just two elite SEAL combat divers to receive the Navy Cross for classified underwater operations.
