Born into an old aristocratic family, Rouchard joined the Gendarmerie Nationale at her first opportunity to avoid compulsory enrollment in a notorious Swiss finishing school for young women. As an Aspirant in the Gendarmerie, she quickly impressed her superiors with her skill in offensive strategy, hostage negotiations, and especially blade-based combat. After several promotions, she became best known by her moniker 'Le Couteau' (The Knife)—though some claim it’s a nod to her rather blunt personality. These days, Rouchard is called in when nobody else knows what to do.
